This event is the latest in ongoing, aggressive recruiting efforts to help strengthen the CTA workforce and provide Chicagoans with more reliable services.

“So far this year, we’ve had more than 300 individuals step up to the plate and be a part of the solution to help provide Chicagoans with more reliable service,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr.  “More than just a job, the CTA has provided countless opportunities for advancement that have led to life-long, successful careers in the transportation industry – there’s no better time to advance your career than now and at the CTA.”

The CTA is seeking applicants for Bus Operator and Bus Mechanic positions, which offer newly increased competitive pay – starting hourly wages of $28.99 for Bus Operators and $40.59 for Bus Mechanics– as well as excellent health benefits, pension, and opportunities for advancement. Plus, a hiring bonus of $1,000! The bonus will appear on the first paycheck and employees must remain at CTA for one year.

CTA has expanded recruitment and hiring efforts as part of the “Meeting the Moment” Action Plan, a multi-tiered effort to provide more reliable service and improve the customer experience.

Since 2022, the CTA has hosted more than a dozen job fairs – both virtual and in-person. New Operators and Mechanics will help the agency address an industry-wide worker shortage, the main contributing factor to CTA’s current service challenges.
