The City of Chicago will celebrate the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup victory with a ticker tape parade followed by a rally beginning Friday morning, June 11. More than 30 CTA buses will be detoured in the downtown area during the parade and as a result of street closures for the rally.
Customers traveling into the Loop on Friday are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time due to traffic congestion and reroutes.
Morning Rush Period Service
Beginning at 7 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. Wacker Drive between Michigan and Wabash, and Michigan Avenue between Randolph and Ohio will be closed to all traffic due to the set-up and take-down of the rally staging area.
During this time, there will be no CTA bus service on Michigan Avenue between Ohio and Randolph.
As a result of these street closures, the following 21 bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets to maintain bus service in the downtown area during the morning rush period (7 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and then again from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the rally:

In general, most northbound buses will be rerouted from Michigan to State Street or Dearborn Street; and southbound buses will use Clark Street.
Southbound #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express and #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses that normally travel along Wacker Drive during the morning rush period will be detoured to operate via Lower Wacker Drive, Columbus, Randolph, Dearborn and then resume their regular routes along Wacker. Northbound #134, #135 and #136 buses will travel via Wacker, Dearborn, Illinois to Lake Shore Drive.
Bus Routes Detoured for Parade
The parade will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. from Wacker and Washington and will proceed east on Washington to Michigan and north on Michigan to Wacker Drive where the celebration continues with the Championship rally, which is expected to begin at approximately 11:30 a.m.
In anticipation of large crowds of attendees, the following 22 bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets beginning at 9 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m.:

*IMPORTANT NOTE: During this time, southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will not travel south of Randolph. Customers should transfer to trains at the Clark/Lake station to continue their trips south of Randolph.
In general, eastbound buses that normally travel on Washington will be rerouted to travel on either Monroe or Randolph.
To speed travel and reduce lines, customers are encouraged to buy farecards in advance with sufficient value or to add enough value to their existing farecards (either the Chicago Card or magnetic strip Transit Card) for their return trips later in the day.
Bus customers who use CTA fare media pay $2.00 to ride. For rail customers or customers who pay cash on the bus, the fare is $2.25. Customers who use magnetic strip cards or other CTA fare media may transfer for a 25 cent fee. Transfers are not available for customers paying fares in cash.
