August 23, 2016

CTA to provide extra service for upcoming concerts and events

The Chicago Transit Authority is notifying customers that weekend construction work planned as part of the Wilson Station Reconstruction Project will require Howard-bound Red Line trains to bypass stations from Sheridan to Howard beginning late Friday night through early Monday morning.

Separately, CTA is providing extra service for upcoming events including the Billy Joel and Luke Bryan concerts at Wrigley Field, the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour and Bruce Springsteen concerts at the United Center and the Bears Pre-Season Game at Soldier Field.

Howard-bound Trains to Run Express from Sheridan to Howard

Construction crews will be performing track work as part of the Wilson Station Reconstruction Project beginning 11 p.m. Friday, August 26 until 2 a.m. Monday, August 29.

During this time, Howard-bound (northbound) Red Line trains will run express from Sheridan to Howard, bypassing the Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations.

95th-bound (southbound) trains will continue to serve all stations throughout the weekend.

Howard-bound customers at Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse or Jarvis stations will need to take a 95th-bound train to Sheridan and then transfer to a Howard-bound train.

Howard-bound customers who want to exit at the affected stations will need to travel to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train.

For alternate service through the affected area, consider using the #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #147 Outer Drive Express or #151 Sheridan bus routes, which run parallel to the Red Line.

Note: #22 Clark buses run at all times, including in the overnight hours. During this period, northbound #151 Sheridan bus service will also be provided overnight between the Sheridan Red Line station and Clark/Devon, to provide alternate service.
