CTA`S #130 GRANT PARK TREASURES BUSES RESUME WEEKEND SERVICE TO LAKEFRONT

May 8, 2001
Mother's Day weekend will bring the resumption of warm-weather service on CTA's #130 Grant Park Treasures buses between the Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station), Union Station and the city's downtown lakefront museums. The buses will operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Saturday, May 12, through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium are among the major attractions served by #130 buses. Others are the Art Institute, the Spertus Museum of Judaica (closed Saturdays), the Museum of Contemporary Photography (closed Sundays), and Grant Park's crown jewel, Buckingham Fountain.

#130 buses begin their trips in front of the Ogilvie Center westbound on Madison just west of Canal. After turning south on Clinton, the buses stop for Union Station eastbound on Jackson at Canal. Continuing east on Jackson to Michigan, the buses go south to Balbo and east into Grant Park en route to the lakefront museums.

Riders can transfer to accessible #130 buses from the accessible Blue Line subway station at Jackson and Dearborn, the accessible Red Line subway station on Jackson at State, and from Brown and Orange Line trains using the accessible Library-State/Van Buren 'L' station one block south of Jackson at State. Customers from the Green Line can connect to #130 buses from the Adams/Wabash 'L' station.

#130 buses run every 15 minutes, with trips from the Ogilvie Center starting at 9:35 a.m. on Saturdays and 10:35 a.m. on Sundays and holidays. Return trips from the Adler Planetarium begin 30 minutes later, with the last bus leaving at 6:05 p.m.

The lakefront museums are also served daily by CTA's #12 Roosevelt buses, operating east and west on Roosevelt, and by #146 Marine/Michigan buses, which stop along Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River and serve State Street downtown. Customers can also walk to the museums from the accessible Red, Green and Orange Line 'L' stations at Roosevelt, or transfer to a #12 Roosevelt bus to complete their trips.
