Service improvements will begin Sunday, March 19, on 14 bus lines throughout the CTA service area. The improvements include more frequent service, expanded hours of operation, and the extension of weekend service to two Chicago beaches.
Weekend improvements will include more frequent service on the #57 Laramie route, where buses will run every 15 minutes instead of 20 minutes apart throughout the day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Also starting Sunday, March 19, service on the #63 63rd route will be extended to the 63rd Street beach in Jackson Park on weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. The same hours of service will be operated by #72 North buses to the North Avenue beach in Lincoln Park. At other times, the buses will end eastbound trips at their regular terminals. Weekday service to the beaches will start Monday, June 12.
#92 Foster buses will operate a half hour later on weekends and holidays, with the last bus leaving the Jefferson Park Blue Line station eastbound at 8 p.m., and the last bus west from the Berwyn Red Line station leaving at 8:35 p.m.
During weekday afternoon rush periods, starting Monday, March 20, all #52A South Kedzie buses will travel the entire route from 36th to 115th/Pulaski, instead of every other bus ending its trip at 63rd Place.
Other weekday improvements include added rush period service on the #12 Roosevelt, #14 South Lake Shore Express, #22 Clark, #79 79th, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Marine/Michigan Express, and #151 Sheridan routes.
There will also be expanded service hours for #12 Roosevelt, #135 Wilson/LaSalle Express and #147 Outer Drive Express buses.

South and West Side Routes
#12 Roosevelt: Buses will serve Museum Campus nightly until 1:25 a.m. instead of 11:45 p.m., and trips east from the Medical Center weekdays between 2:20 and 3 p.m. will run every 7? to 8? minutes instead of 9 to11 minutes apart.
#14 South Lake Shore Express: Northbound buses operating between 9 and 9:30 a.m. will run every 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes apart.
#52A South Kedzie: All weekday afternoon rush period trips will operate to and from 115th/Pulaski instead of half going only to 63rd Place.
#57 Laramie: Weekend/holiday service will operate all day at 15-minute intervals instead of 20 minutes apart.
#63 63rd: Buses will operate to 63rd Street beach from 9 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
#79 79: Morning rush period service between the lakefront and Western will be every 2 to 3 minutes instead of 3 to 4 minutes apart from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. westbound and from 7 to 8:30 a.m. eastbound.
North and Northwest Side Routes
#22 Clark: One extra northbound trip will be added on weekdays between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
#72 North: Buses will operate to North Avenue beach from 9 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
#92 Foster: Weekend/holiday service will run a half hour later, with the last bus leaving the Jefferson Park Blue Line station eastbound at 8 p.m., and the last bus going west from the Berwyn Red Line station at 8:35 p.m.
#135 Wilson/LaSalle Express: First weekday afternoon rush period bus will leave Jackson/Wacker at 4 p.m. instead of at 4:15 p.m.
#145 Wilson/Michigan: Two additional weekday trips will operate south from Irving Park/Lake Shore between 7:30 and 8 a.m., and one additional trip will go north from Wacker/Michigan between 5 and 5:30 p.m.
#146 Marine/Michigan Express: Two additional afternoon rush period trips will go north from Wacker/Michigan between 5 and 5:30 p.m.
#147 Outer Drive Express: First weekday morning rush period trip will leave Howard at 5:45 a.m. instead of at 6 a.m.
#151 Sheridan: Three additional morning rush period trips will operate south from Diversey between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m.
