CTA will operate on a Sunday Schedule Labor Day, Monday, September 1
Extra Yellow Line Service Provided for Jazz FestivalYellow Line trains will provide special service between Skokie and Howard for the Chicago Jazz Festival Thursday, August 28 through Sunday, August 31. Thursday night's performance takes place at Symphony Center beginning at 8 p.m. Performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be held in Grant Park from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Trains will operate until midnight Thursday and Friday. Trains will operate from 9 a.m. until midnight Saturday and Sunday (Yellow Line service usually does not operate on weekends).
Festival Closes Roosevelt SaturdayRoosevelt will be closed between Washtenaw and Talman from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. for the Freewill Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Festival Saturday, August 30. #12 Roosevelt buses will operate in both directions via California, Ogden, Western back to Roosevelt then resume the regular route.
Lake Shore Drive Service Enhancements Begin SundayCTA bus customers along the Lake Shore Drive corridors will experience significant service enhancements, bringing improved travel times to and from the Loop, new and extended express service to downtown, and less crowded buses. The 180-day experimental restructuring begins on Sunday, August 31, with the first workday rush period under the new configuration to be after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 2.
Ten bus routes along the North Lake Shore Drive corridor will be affected. The routes are the new #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #156 LaSalle, new #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, new #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan Road.
Fourteen routes along the South Lake Shore corridor will be affected: #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #2 Hyde Park Express, #X3 King Drive Express, #4 Cottage Grove, #X4 Cottage Grove Express, #6 Jackson Park Express (formerly Jeffery Express), #14 Jeffery Express (formerly South Lake Shore Express), new #15 Jeffery Local, new #26 South Shore Express, #27 South Deering, #28 Stony Island Express, #47 47th and #71 71st/South Shore.
Mexican Independence Day Parade Closes 47th Street Sunday47th Street will be closed between Ashland and Damen from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, August 31 for the Mexican Independence Day Parade. #47 47th buses will operate in both directions via Damen, 51st, Ashland, back to 47th then resume the regular route.
Fiesta Closes Division and California on SundayDivision will be closed between Warren and Mozart from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday for Fiesta Boricua. #70 Division buses will operate in both directions via Homan, North, Western, back to Division then resume the regular route.
California also will be closed between North and Augusta from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. #52 Kedzie/California buses will operate in both directions via Chicago, Western, North, back to California then resume the regular route.
#X21 Cermak Express Adjusts Service Beginning SundayAs part of a 180-day experiment, service on the X21 Cermak Express bus route will be modified to travel on Damen instead of Marshall, providing more direct service for customers who work in the Medical District or who are traveling downtown. It also will provide direct service to the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum. During the experiment, Saturday hours of operation will be every20 ? 30 minutes from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday service will be every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Movie Filming Closes 79th Street until Mid-September The filming of ?Barbershop 2? will close 79th Street between Escanaba and Exchange intermittently for 16 days until Wednesday, September 17. On the affected dates, the closures will occur from approximately 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. #79 79th buses will be rerouted in both directions via Yates, 75th, South Shore Drive, back to 79th then resume the regular route. Due to weather and other circumstances, these dates are subject to change.
Construction Closes 103rd until the End of SeptemberStreet reconstruction has closed the eastbound lanes of 103rd Street between Dauphin and Cottage Grove. The closure is expected to last until September 30.#106 East 103rd buses will operate eastbound via King Drive, 107th, Cottage Grove, back to 103rd then resume the regular route.
Construction Closes McCormick until Early OctoberMcCormick is closed between Devon and Lincoln for construction until Monday, October 6. #11 Lincoln buses will operate in both directions via Devon, Kedzie, back to Lincoln then resume the regular route.
#82 Kimball/Homan buses will operate in both directions via Homan, Devon, back to Kimball then resume the regular route.
