Late Night Single Track in Effect at the Cumberland Blue Line Station Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Rosemont and Cumberland stations next week from 8 p.m. Tuesday night, March 3 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 8 p.m. Thursday night, March 5 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
During these times, southbound Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Wednesday Night – Northbound
From 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a late night single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains operating between the Cumberland and Rosemont stations.
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Red Line – Slow Zone Work
Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan
A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
Next Week
From approximately 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, March 3 through Friday, March 6, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Three-Phase Single Track in Effect for Eastbound Blue Line Trains between Forest Park and Austin – Friday and Saturday Night
Due to signal repair work, a three-phase late night single track will be in effect for eastbound Blue Line trains operating between the Forest Park and Austin stations from 9 p.m. Friday night, February 27 until 7 a.m. Saturday morning, February 28.
Phase I: Forest Park to Harlem
From 9 p.m. Friday night until midnight, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Harlem station must board and exit from the westbound side of the platform.
Phase II: Forest Park to Austin
From 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday morning, February 28, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Harlem and Oak Park stations must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.
Phase III: Harlem to Austin
From 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday morning, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Oak Park station must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Saturday night, February 27
As crews continue signal repair work along the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line, a three-phase late night single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Austin Blue Line stations from 9 p.m. Saturday night, February 28 until 7 a.m. Sunday morning, March 1.
Phase I: Harlem to Austin
From 9 p.m. Saturday night until midnight, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Oak Park station must board and exit from the westbound side of the platform.
Phase II: Harlem to Cicero
From 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday morning, March 1, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Oak Park and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.
Phase III: Harlem to Austin
From 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday morning, eastbound Blue Line customers at the Oak Park station must board and exit trains from the westbound side of the platform.

Southbound Blue Line customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

From 10 p.m. Monday, March 2 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains operating between the LaSalle and Grand stations as crews continue signal repair work.
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Brown Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Single Track in Effect for Brown Line Trains between Addison and Southport
A daytime single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between the Addison and Southport stations from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, while crews work on the Paulina station as part of the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project.
Southbound Brown Line customers at the Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Single Track in Effect for Red Line Trains between Roosevelt and Grand
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains operating between the Roosevelt and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday, February 27 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to work associated with the installation of an escalator at the Monroe/Adams station.
Northbound Red Line customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Late Night Single Track for Northbound Red Line Trains at North/Clybourn
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains operating between the Clark/Division and Fullerton stations from 10 p.m. Sunday, March 1 until 4 a.m. the following morning due to sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel.
Northbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Next Week
Sewer cleaning in the subway tunnel continues next week from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, March 2 through Friday morning, March 6, resulting in a single track for northbound Red Line trains between the Clark/Division and Fullerton stations.
During these times, northbound Red Line customers at the North/Clybourn station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Additional Service for Special Events
#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:
- Friday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. – Pittsburgh Penguins versus Blackhawks
- Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. – Houston Rockets versus Bulls
- Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. – Los Angeles Kings versus Blackhawks
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the event until the starting time of the event. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
#19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.
New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
24 Routes and New Bus Service Alert Feature Activated on Bus Tracker
Effective Monday, March 2, a new bus service alert feature will be available on the CTA Bus Tracker site (
www.ctabustracker.com). The alerts will inform mobile or desktop users of any planned or unplanned events currently affecting service at a stop, along a route or across the entire system.
In addition, the following 24 new routes will be activated, giving customers access to real-time service information for a total of 110 of CTA’s 153 bus routes:

10 CTA Bus Routes Detoured Beginning Friday Night
From 10 p.m. Friday, February 27 until 11 a.m. the following morning, the southbound lanes along Michigan Avenue between Randolph and Madison will be closed to all traffic. During this time, 10 CTA buses will be temporarily detoured to nearby streets.
Southbound #3 King Drive and #4 Cottage Grove buses will travel over their regular routes along Michigan to Randolph then will operate via Randolph, State, Monroe to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Northbound #3 and #4 buses will travel over their regular routes.
Westbound #20 Madison and #56 Milwaukee buses will operate over their regular routes along Washington to State then will travel via State to Madison and then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #20 and #56 buses will travel over their regular routes.
Southbound #60 Blue Island buses will travel over the regular route along Randolph to Michigan then will operate via Randolph, State to Madison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route.
Eastbound #66 Chicago buses (Owl service only) will operate over the regular route along Michigan to Randolph then will operate via Randolph to State for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #66 buses will travel via State to Monroe and then resume the regular route north along Michigan.
Southbound #124 Navy Pier buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Randolph then will operate via Randolph, State to Madison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #124 buses will travel over the regular route.
Southbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express buses will operate over their regular routes along Michigan to Randolph then will travel via Randolph, State, Monroe to Michigan and then resume their regular routes. Northbound #145 and #147 buses will travel over their regular routes.

Temporary Reroute of Southbound #14 Jeffery Express Buses This Weekend
Monroe Street will be closed between Wabash and Michigan beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, February 27 until 5 a.m. Monday, March 2, due to a crane lift.
Southbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will travel over the regular route along Monroe to State then will operate via State, Jackson to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Northbound #14 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
#126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan Buses Detoured Due to Adams Street Closure
Adams Street will be closed between Wabash and State from 10 p.m. Friday, February 27 until 6 a.m. Sunday, March 1, due to a crane lift.
Westbound #126 Jackson buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan to Madison then will travel via Madison, State to Adams and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #126 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Madison then will operate via Madison, State to Adams and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
#35 35th Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Construction Work
From 10 p.m. Friday, February 27 until 4 p.m. Monday, March 2, 35th Street will be closed between Shields and Wentworth due to construction work.
Westbound #35 35th buses will operate over the regular route along 35th Street to LaSalle then will travel via LaSalle, 33rd, Shields to 35th and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #35 buses will travel over the regular route along 35th Street to Shields then operate via Shields, 33rd, Wentworth to 35th and then resume the regular route.
#71 71st/South Shore Buses Rerouted Due to Sewer Repairs at 71st/Blackstone
The eastbound lanes along 71st Street at Blackstone will be closed from 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 3 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, due to sewer repair work.
Eastbound #71 71st/South Shore buses will travel over the regular route along 71st to Dorchester then will operate via Dorchester, 75th, Stony Island to 71st and then resume the regular route. Westbound #71 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
Temporary Detour of Three Bus Routes along Inner Lake Shore Drive on Saturday
Three CTA bus routes will be temporarily detoured from Inner Lake Shore Drive between Addison and Belmont on Saturday, February 28 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. due to a helicopter lift.
Southbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate over the regular route along Inner Lake Shore Drive to Addison then will travel via Addison, Broadway, Belmont to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Northbound #145 and #146 buses will travel the reverse route.
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will operate over the regular route along Inner Lake Shore Drive to Addison then will travel via Addison, Broadway, Belmont to Sheridan and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses will travel the reverse route.
#20 Madison and #126 Jackson Buses Rerouted on Sunday for the Wacky 5k Run
On Sunday, March 1 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the #20 Madison and #126 Jackson buses will be temporarily rerouted in both directions for the Wacky 5k Run.
Eastbound #20 Madison buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Ogden then will travel via Ogden, Lake, Halsted to Washington and then resume the regular route. Westbound #20 buses will travel over the regular route along Madison to Halsted then will operate via Halsted, Randolph, Ogden to Madison and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will travel over the regular route along Jackson to Racine then will operate via Racine, Harrison, Halsted to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Westbound #126 buses will operate over the regular route along Van Buren to Halsted then will travel via Halsted, Harrison, Racine to Van Buren and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina and Ashland will be closed to all traffic until March 2009, due to construction.
Eastbound #7 Harrison buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #126 Jackson buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.
#7 Harrison Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.
Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
#24 Wentworth Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Sewer Repair Work
Until further notice, #24 Wentworth buses will be temporarily rerouted to adjacent streets due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Vincennes Avenue and 71st Street.
#34 South Michigan Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Construction
Until further notice, 130th Street at Indiana Avenue is closed due to viaduct and sewer repair work. Southbound #34 South Michigan buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to 115th and then operate via 115th, Bishop Ford Expressway, 130th to Langley and then resume the regular route. Northbound #34 buses will travel the reverse route. During this time, bus shuttles will operate along Michigan Avenue between 115th and 127th streets.
#43 43rd Buses Rerouted Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. Westbound #43 43rd buses will operate over the regular route to Halsted and then will travel via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #43 buses will operate the reverse route.
#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Street Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
