EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF JULY 4 – 6

Extra Service Provided for Taste of ChicagoVisitors to the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6 will find CTA service the most effective way to travel. Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night, and extra buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities to carry customers home.

July 4th ServiceOn the Fourth of July, the CTA will operate regular Sunday/holiday service with a few exceptions. There will be extra buses on three of the routes that serve Navy Pier: #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier. There also will be longer and more frequent trains operating on the Brown, Orange and Green Lines on the evening of the Fourth.

Parade Closes Skokie Streets FridayAn Independence Day parade will close Oakton from Lincoln to Kenton between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4. #97 Skokie buses will operate in both directions via Oakton, Kostner, Keeney, Skokie Boulevard, Searle, Niles Center Road and back to the regular route.

Jackson Closes Between Central and Menard for FireworksAn Independence Day fireworks display will cause Jackson Boulevard to be closed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, July 4. #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted in both directions via Jackson, Central, Madison and Austin and the terminal.

Helicopter Lift Closes Aberdeen, Sangamon and Morgan A helicopter lift to a building at 947 West Van Buren will close Aberdeen and Sangamon; and Morgan will close between Congress Parkway and Gladys Saturday, July 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Westbound #126 Jackson buses will be detoured via Van Buren, Halsted, Madison, Racine and back to Van Buren to resume the regular route.

Lincoln Closes for Neighborhood FestivalLincoln will be closed between Belmont and School from 6 a.m. Saturday until midnight Sunday night for Rock Around the Block. #11 Lincoln buses will operate in both directions via Lincoln, Ashland, Addison and Lincoln to resume the regular route.
