Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of October 21 – 23

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Beginning ThursdayDue to track maintenance, single track service will be in effect westbound between Central and Harlem from 11 p.m. Thursday, October 20 until 4 a.m. Friday, October 21.

Single track service will be in effect eastbound between Lavergne and Lombard from10 p.m. Friday, October 21 until 4 a.m. Saturday, October 22.

Single track service will be in effect westbound between Harlem and Cumberland from 4 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22 and again during the same hours Sunday, October 23.

Customers may want to allow extra travel time.

Loop Streets Closed for Halloween Parade SaturdayA Halloween parade in the Loop will close State between Lake and Monroe; Monroe between State and Dearborn; and Dearborn between Monroe and Randolph from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 22. The closures will affect the following bus routes: #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan. These buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets and CTA supervisors will be on hand to assist customers during the parade.

Additional Service Provided for World Series Games this WeekendThe Chicago Transit Authority will provide more frequent Red Line service to U.S. Cellular Field for the World Series between the Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros. The first game is Saturday, October 22 and the second game is Sunday, October 23. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.

Trains will operate more frequently beginning at 4:30 p.m. and continue for approximately one hour after games end, or as crowds warrant.

In addition to the Red Line, CTA's Green Line also provides a convenient travel option for fans attending the games. After the games, additional Green Line trains will operate as crowds warrant.

The accessible Green Line station at 35th-Bronzeville-IIT is a few blocks east of U.S. Cellular Field. Fans can walk to the ballpark or transfer to #35 35th buses which stop at the park.

Additional Service Provided for Bears Game on SundayAdditional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/ Michigan Express bus routes for the Bears game against the Baltimore Ravens at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 23. Additional service on the #12 route will begin operating at 1:20 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

Additional service on the #146 route will begin operating at 12:30 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

CTA's #128 Soldier Field Express route also will operate between the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and Soldier Field beginning at 12:20 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends.

Damen Closes for Sewer Work Beginning MondayDamen will be closed at the intersection of 72nd Street from 9 a.m. Monday, October 24 until 5 p.m. Thursday, November 3. #48 South Damen buses will operate in both directions via Damen, 71st, Ashland, 75th, back to Damen, then resume the regular route.

Brown Line Capacity Expansion:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour, and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Single Track in Effect on the Brown Line Beginning Friday NightSingle track service will be in effect between Western and Albany southbound from 9 p.m. Friday, October 21 until 3 a.m. Saturday, October 22 and northbound in the same location from 4 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, October 22. Customers may want to allow extra travel time.

Structural Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Northbound Brown Line Platforms SaturdayStructural maintenance will temporarily close the northbound platforms at Diversey and Wellington from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, October 22. As a result, northbound Brown Line trains will not stop at the Diversey or Wellington stations. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Diversey or Wellington will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

Red Line- Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Red Line Platform over the WeekendPlatform rehabilitation will temporarily close the southbound platform at the 79th station on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, October 22. As a result, southbound customers who wish to exit at 79th will need to travel to 87th and transfer to northbound trains back to 79th.Southbound customers who wish to board southbound trains at 79th will need to board northbound trains to 69th and transfer to southbound trains.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendSingle track service will be in effect southbound between 69th and 87th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, October 21 until 8 a.m. Saturday, October 22.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect southbound between Garfield and 63rd Street from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, October 24 and Tuesday night, October 25.

Single track service will be in effect northbound between Garfield and 45th Street from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday night, October 26 and Thursday night, October 27.

Customers may want to allow extra travel time.
