The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is notifying customers of separate weekend construction work that will temporarily affect Red and Blue line service. Howard-bound Red Line trains will run express from Sheridan to Howard bypassing several stations. In addition, the Addison Blue Line station will be temporarily closed over the weekend.
CTA is also providing extra service to upcoming events at the United Center.
Howard-bound Trains to Run Express from Sheridan to Howard
Construction crews will perform track work as part of the Wilson Station Reconstruction Project beginning 10 p.m. Friday, March 18 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 21. Howard-bound (northbound) Red Line trains will run express from Sheridan to Howard, bypassing the Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations.
95th-bound (southbound) trains will continue to serve all stations throughout the weekend.
Howard-bound customers at Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse or Jarvis stations will need to take a 95th-bound train to Sheridan and then transfer to a Howard-bound train.
Howard-bound customers who want to exit at the affected stations will need to travel to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
For alternate service through the affected area, consider using the #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #147 Outer Drive Express, or #151 Sheridan buses, which run parallel to the Red Line. Note: #22 Clark buses run at all times. During this period, northbound #151 Sheridan buses only will also run overnight between the Sheridan Red Line station and Clark/Devon, to provide alternate service.
