Weekend Brown Line Construction Work to Temporarily Close Chicago and Sedgwick Stations
CTA's Sedgwick and Chicago Avenue Brown Line stations will temporarily close from 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4 until 4 a.m. on Monday, May 7 for construction work related to the Brown Line capacity expansion project. From Friday night until early Monday morning, Brown Line trains will operate only between Kimball and Armitage. Brown Line service will not operate from Armitage to the Loop. Normal Brown Line service will resume at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 7 at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations.
CTA is encouraging southbound Brown Line customers to make the free transfer to the Red Line at Fullerton to complete their trips into the Loop.
CTA will provide a bus shuttle as a substitute for Brown Line rail service between the Fullerton and Clark/Lake stations. The bus shuttle will make stops near the Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago, Merchandise Mart and Clark/Lake stations.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time. (See separate release for details.)
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line O'Hare Branch Through Next Week
A single track will be in effect between Belmont and Addison from 11 p.m., Friday, May 4 until 6 a.m., Saturday, May 5. Customers at the Irving Park station must board on the northbound side of the platform.An additional single track will be in effect between Montrose and Belmont from 10 p.m. Saturday, May 5 until 8 a.m., Sunday, May 6, and again in the same location from 10 p.m. Saturday, May 5 until 2 a.m. Sunday, May 6. Customers at the Irving Park station must board on the northbound side of the platform.
From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m., customers at the Irving Park, Addison and Belmont stations must board on the northbound side of the platform. From 6 a.m. until 8 a.m., customers at the Irving Park station must board on the northbound side of the platform.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Friday
A single track will be in effect between Kedzie-Homan and UIC-Halsted from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday, May 6, and at the same location from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday. Customers at the Western, Illinois Medical District and Racine stations must board trains on the northbound side of the platform on Sunday and Monday evenings, and on the southbound side of the platform on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Late Night Weekend Single Track on the Red Line Dan Ryan Branch
A single track will be in effect between Sox-35th and 47th from 11 p.m. Friday, May 4 until 6 a.m. Saturday, May 5, and again 10 p.m. Saturday, May 5 until 4 a.m. Sunday, May 6. On Friday evening, customers at the Sox-35th station must board trains on the northbound side of the platform. On Saturday, May 5, customers at Sox-35th must board trains on the southbound side of the platform. On Sunday, May 6, customers at Sox-35th must board trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Armitage Avenue Closes for Station Construction Work Friday Night
Armitage Avenue will close from 9 p.m. Friday, May 4 until 9 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Eastbound #73 Armitage buses will operate via Armitage, Sheffield, Webster, Halsted, back to Armitage, then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via Armitage, Halsted, Webster, Sheffield, back to Armitage, then resume the regular route.
#19 United Center Express Service to Champions on Ice at the United Center
#19 United Center Express buses will provide service from Downtown to the United Center for Champions on Ice on Sunday, May 6. Buses will operate from Superior/Michigan to the United Center, beginning at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Buses will operate from United Center to Downtown and Michigan/Chicago for approximately one hour after the performance.
Loop Tour Train and Niki Express Trains Begin Operation May 5
The Loop Tour Train operates on Saturdays (May 5 through September 29) and travels around the historic 1897 Loop 'L'. Sponsored by the Chicago Office of Tourism, Loop Tour Train tickets are free, but customers must pick up their tickets on the day of the tour from the Chicago Office of Tourism Visitor Information Center located on the first floor of the Chicago Cultural Center at 77 East Randolph. Tickets are available beginning at 9 a.m.
The Niki Express Train operates weekends (May 5 through September 30) and travels between the Randolph 'L' station and Conservatory-Central Park Drive Green Line station. Also sponsored by the Chicago Office of Tourism, the tickets are free but must be picked up on the day of the tour from the Chicago Office of Tourism Visitor Information Center.
