Track work on the Loop 'L' at Madison/Wabash will affect Green, Orange and Brown Line service from 7 p.m. Saturday, August 10, until 2 p.m. Sunday, August 11. Different phases of the work will affect each line accordingly. The Madison/Wabash station will be closed from 6 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.
During the first phase, from 7 p.m. Saturday until 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Green Line trains will not serve their regular stops on the Lake and Wabash sides of the Loop. Instead, they will operate on the Wells and Van Buren sides of the Loop, making stops at Library-State/Van Buren, LaSalle/Van Buren, Quincy/Wells and Washington/Wells in both directions.
A shuttle train will operate around the outer Loop so Green Line customers can reach stations at Adams/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake or Clark/Lake or connect back to Green Line trains from those stations.
Orange Line trains will operate around the outer Loop tracks, stopping at station platforms opposite the ones they usually serve except Madison/Wabash. The first stop will be at Adams/Wabash and the last stop at Library-State/Van Buren.
Brown Line trains will follow their normal routing around the outer Loop.
The second phase of the work, from 1:30 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. Sunday, will affect only early morning Orange Line trains. They will follow their regular routing around the inner Loop until they reach Randolph/Wabash. They will then reverse their routing, making stops on the outer Loop back to Library-State/Van Buren on their way to Midway. There will be no service to Adams/Wabash.
During the third phase, from 7:15 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Green Line trains will again serve stations on the Wells and Van Buren sides of the Loop. A shuttle train will circle the Loop on the inner tracks, making all stops except at Madison/Wabash. Brown and Orange Line trains will also use the inner Loop tracks, making all stops except at Madison/Wabash.
