The Chicago Transit Authority will continue its tradition of offering penny rides on New Year's Eve. Riding CTA buses and trains will cost only a penny from 8 p.m. New Year's Eve Wednesday, December 31, until 6 a.m. New Year's Day Thursday, January 1.
Those out and about on New Year's Eve, whether as employees working at Navy Pier and other holiday celebrations or those out celebrating, can count on CTA to get them home safely and at later hours.
Additionally, several bus and rail routes will provide later service, making CTA an even more convenient, safe and affordable option for New Year's Eve revelers.
Bus Service
#6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate from downtown until 3:30 a.m. The last trip will leave 79th and South Shore Drive to downtown at 2:33 a.m.
#14 Jeffery Express buses will operate from downtown until 3:30 a.m. The last trip will leave 103rd and Stony Island to downtown at 12:55 a.m.
#29 State buses will operate from Navy Pier to 95th and Dan Ryan until 3:30 a.m. The last bus to Navy Pier will leave 95th at 11:30 p.m.
#65 Grand buses will operate from Navy Pier until 3:30 a.m. to the Blue Line station at Halsted/Milwaukee. The last bus will leave Halsted/Milwaukee to Navy Pier at 2:55 a.m.
#66 Chicago buses operate from Navy Pier to Austin until 3:30 a.m. The last from Austin to Navy Pier will leave at 2:18 a.m. Regular Night Owl service will operate between State/Washington and Chicago/Pulaski.
#124 Navy Pier buses will operate until 1:30 a.m. from Navy Pier to Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center. The last trip to Navy Pier from Union Station will be at 1 a.m.
#151 Sheridan buses will operate every 15 minutes northbound from Union Station to Foster and Sheridan from 12:10 a.m. until 5 a.m. Special service will operate every 30 minutes from Union Station to Howard from 12:45 a.m. until 4:50 a.m. Southbound service will operate every five to six minutes from Foster and Sheridan to Union Station from 9:15 p.m. until 11:15 p.m. There also will be service every five to 15 minutes from Belmont and Sheridan to Union Station from 9:30 p.m. until 2:15 a.m. Special service will operate from Howard to Union Station every 30 minutes from 2:15 a.m. until 3:45 a.m.
Rail Service
The last trip on all Brown, Orange and Green Line trains will leave downtown at 1:30 a.m.
Purple and Yellow Line trains will operate until 2:20 a.m. from Howard to Linden and Dempster, respectively.
Brown Line 'shuttle? trains will operate between Belmont and Kimball until 2:25 a.m.
Blue Line trains on the Cermak (Douglas) branch will operate from downtown until 1:30 a.m.
Red Line trains and Forest Park-O'Hare Blue Line trains operate 24 hours daily.
