December 13, 2024

Work occurring during the overnight and morning hours will also require single-track operation of Blue Line trains

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is alerting travelers to weekend track work that will require the closure of the inbound lane and shoulder of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) adjacent to the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line, and require trains to operate on a single track in the area.

During the following dates and times, the left shoulder and first left lane of the inbound
I-290 Expressway will be closed, and Blue Line trains will operate on a single track between the Austin and Kedzie-Homan stations:

  • 10 p.m. Friday, December 13 until 12 p.m./noon the next day;
  • 10 p.m. Saturday, December 14 until 4 a.m. Monday, December 16

Riders at the Cicero will need to board/exit all trains from the Forest Park-bound side of the platform. Customers are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
