Launch of Building Small Businesses

Audience with hands up to ask questions

CTA is committed to the success of Small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) by promoting opportunities to DBEs. On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Diversity Programs and its consultant team, Ascend Hub Interactive (HI), welcomed 64 attendees to learn about the launch of Building Small Businesses (BSB), a financial capacity-building program for small businesses that provides capital sourcing, technical assistance, and back-office support. CTA Diversity Programs kicked off the program with a warm welcome from Director of Diversity Program, JuanPablo Prieto, followed by guest speakers, CTA President Dorval Carter, Chicago Transit Board Chairman Lester Barclay, FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez, and Shelby Scales, USDOT Director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.

Following the presentations, attendees were able to network and have a one-on-one conversations, and develop industry relationships with the guest speakers. We would like to thank all attendees, Ascend HI team, and guest speakers for making this event successful and for their continued support.

Pre-proposal presentations with in-person meet-and-greets

In June 2022, we hosted two virtual pre-proposal presentations for potential contractors with in-person meet-and-greets afterwards. Attendees learned about open projects and networked with interested prime contractors.

On July 8, we hosted the pre-proposal meeting for property management for the Red Line Extension Project (contract #B22FT04790) at Olive Harvey College.

On July 12, we hosted the Congress Phase One Track Improvement pre-proposal meeting (contract #C22RI102789059) at Malcom X College.

CTA Mid-Level Construction (MIDCON) Services Meet-the-Contractors Event

On January 27th, CTA Diversity Programs held its Mid-Level Construction (MIDCON) Services Meet-the-Contractors event at the JLM Life Center. Over 60 attendees networked to develop one-on-one industry relationships with CTA’s MIDCON prime contractors and gained insight into partnering with them on upcoming opportunities!
