Mayor Emanuel Announces Free Rides on CTA Buses and Trains on New Year’s Eve 12/29/2014

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Transit Authority are encouraging people heading out to celebrate the New Year to take advantage of the convenience of CTA, which will provide free rides on all buses and trains beginning 10 p.m. Wednesday, December 31 until 4 a.m. Thursday, January 1. For the last three years, MillerCoors’ Miller Lite has sponsored the popular program as part of an agreement with the CTA that has been extended another three years. Newly Rehabilitated Damen Blue Line Station Reopened Today 12/22/2014

CTA President Forrest Claypool today welcomes back CTA Blue Line customers to the newly renovated and modernized Damen Blue Line station, which reopened today. Damen is among the first three of 13 stations that are receiving station improvement work as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s $492 million Your New Blue program. The Chicago Transit Authority reminds Green Line customers that service between the Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations will be temporarily suspended beginning at the start of service at 1:40 a.m. through 11:40 a.m., on both Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21, due to the construction of the new Cermak-McCormick Place station. Weekend Green Line Service Temporarily Suspended between Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT 12/11/2014

This weekend, Green Line service between the Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations will be temporarily suspended beginning 2 a.m. Saturday, December 13 through 4 a.m. Monday, December 15, to allow crews to continue performing work associated with the construction of the new Cermak-McCormick Place station. Mayor Emanuel Breaks Ground on New Wilson Station Reconstruction Project 12/08/2014

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and CTA President Forrest Claypool broke ground today on the Wilson Station Reconstruction Project, which will modernize the 91-year-old stationhouse and the station’s more than 100-year-old track structure.
