The Chicago Transit Authority today reported continued improvement in how Ventra readers work on CTA buses, following the completion of a fleet-wide software upgrade by Cubic Transportation Systems. The improvements on buses, completed in early December, have led to faster, more reliable boarding for CTA customers and nearly eliminated instances of card “tap” delays that led to transaction denial or a second charge from double-tapping related to delays. Bidding for the week-long auction on www.ricklevin.com ended Wednesday. Customers placed more than $34,000 of bids on 117 items. The Chicago Transit Authority has kicked off a search for artists to create public works of art for three Blue Line stations that will undergo rehabilitation under the $492 million Your New Blue project – which is part of Mayor Emanuel’s Building a New Chicago program that includes infrastructure improvements to modernize the CTA transit system for the 21st century. The CTA reminds customers who are still using magnetic stripe fare cards to check the expiration date stamped on the back of the card. Some customers may have cards that are expiring on December 15, meaning they will no longer work as of 12:01 am on Monday, December 16.
